What is there to do near newport beach , CA?

I will be near Newport beach today, but don't know what to do. I don't want to actually "Go" to the beach. I know that, for example, santa monica pier has the 3rdstreet promendate + those ferries wheels near the pier, but what does the Newport beach has for me to do except the actual beach? thx!

Tons of art galleries of all sorts.

Sea food is also excellent. It's also fun eating in one of those outdoor cafes.

depends really on what you like to do.  restaurants ect are all over, go up and down pac coast hwy and there's tons of shops and things from newport to dana to san clemente that might catch your interest.

edit:  try rubys shake shack or rubys diner in newport.  good food  :)

balboa pavillion is GREAT, theres lots of things there

Fashion Island is a pretty nice outdoor shopping mall.  It also has many restaurants, a movie theater, and a carousel too.  If you're into art, there's the Orange County Museum of Art near Fashion Island too.
