What is there to do while travelling in Ontario, Canada?

Okay - so I am an Australian currently living in Ontario, Canada. I have come for 10 monhts after finishing high school back home and I am living with my aunt and uncle. While I'm here I plan on getting a job and working for a while (I have a work permit and all that jazz) but I also want to do some travel.

Unfortunately, being a foreigner I have no idea what there is to do here in Canada (and locals always know the best things to do!) both here in Ontario and abroad.

Is there anyone out there who could suggest any good tourity spots and maybe a few local places that I should check out?

Thanks!

  1. Ontario's kinda big - what part are you in?

Niagara region - the falls, the Maid of the Mist (a must!), tour the wineries, walk around Niagara-on-the-Lake, tour Fort George and Fort Erie (but only if you are *really* into history - otherwise, yawn)

Kitchener/Waterloo - St. Jacobs farmers market

Other - Algonquin park, other Ontario parks, hike parts of the Bruce trail, go fishing/boating/swimming on/in one of the great lakes, Wassaga beach on a long weekend (but only if you like *lots* of other people around), museums in Toronto and Ottawa, go to the Parliament buildings in Ottawa, take a train trip through Agawa canyon....

  2. Toronto: CN Tower

    Hockey Hall of Fame

    Toronto Blue Jays

    Royal Ontario Museum

    Ontario Science Center

    Palladium

    Ontario Place

    Paramount Canada's Wonderland (nearby Vaughn)

    Casa Loma

    Ottawa:

    Canadian War Museum

    National Gallery of Canada

    Parliament Hill

    Byward Market

    Canada Science and Tech Museum
