It benchmarks your graphics card and CPU by running a number of computer game style tests. It then gives you a score depending on the performance. The better your PC, the better the performance of 3dmark, therefore, a higher score.

For example, with a Core 2 Duo E6600, Radeon 4870, 4gb Geil RAM, i get 14,500 3Dmark Points.
