Question:

What is this German dessert?

I used to buy it in Germany but ever since I moved, I totally forgot about it until someone made it for a dinner party this evening. It's basically a whipped chocolate cream with whipped cream on top. It tastes better cold vs. room temp (to me), and the woman who served it today sprinkled some cocoa powder on top of the whipped cream.

  1. It sounds like mousse.

  2. It's german pudding, often called Sahne-pudding. It's lighter and creamier almost like a mousse au chocolat and topped with whipped cream.

My favorite is the one called Dany Sahne.

Here is a link ---you might recognize it as the same you bought.

  3. That could have been ´Schokoladenpudding`

    1/2 l milk

    sugar

    vanille-sugar

    100 g chocolate

    2 spoons cornflour

    50 g grounded almonds

    2 egg-whites

heat milk and melt chocolate in it

    when cooking stir in cornflour

    take of the heat

    add almonds and vanilla

whip egg-whites and mix with the cooling mass

The ones in the supermarket probably didn't contain almonds

  4. There are plenty of German message boards if you speak German. Most of us have never been to Germany. Look way down at the bottom and you can go to the Y!A site.
