  1. kiko7, they r talking about the " Price Rise " actually.

  2. It seems that bad weather in Australia has damaged the rice crop there, causing shortages which have propagated around the world.

  3. drought in Indonesia and Australia combined with farmers switching to more profitable cash crops have triggered the shortage, this by no means is and all out food shortage

  4. ya some stores are limiting to only  four 25 lb bags a person.

i dont think i can eat that much rice in a lifetime.

i think just a another excuse for prices to rise, it will have a ripple affect and alot of other things will increase in price.

this country is going to h*ll and fast  !!!

  5. well yeah i've heard this too on the news and it says that the world is having a rice shortage so it would be best not to waste any rice. Rice prices has also gone up due to the shortage..

  6. People in India and China are getting enough money to eat more and to eat more meat, this rasies the price of grains. Also increased ethanol productions drives up the price of corn. So though there is a lot of rice , it's relatively expensive so the poorest people in the poorest countries are suffering and sometimes rioting. Its like the price of bread doubled.

  7. A QUOTE FROM THE PRESS!

"This week, even the United States felt the reverberations, as major retailers started to notice signs of panic buying.

Sam's Club, a unit of retail giant Wal-Mart, said on Wednesday it was capping sales of rice at four bulk bags per customer per visit. The previous day, rival Costco Wholesale Corp reported mounting demand for rice and flour as worried customers stocked up.

"Everywhere you see, there is some story about food shortages and hoarding and tightness of supplies," said Neauman Coleman, an analyst and rice broker in Brinkley, Arkansas"

  8. It's a Rumor- nothing more. -Caused by people getting "carried away" by the rising cost of Food around the World... There is NO shortage of Rice.

  9. It's a money crisis.  Most of the world's currencies are slowly going down the drain as their governments try to pay for promises they made that they cannot keep.

The poorest people in the world have the least of the money.  When yours and my money gets a little more worthless we drive less, eat at home, and pass on new toys.  When the small amount of money in the hands of the poorest becomes more worthless than they can't afford to buy basics like food.

  10. Its Media Hype there is No Shortage of Rice

  11. Although I am a western Chinese oldie, I enjoyed rice dinner once a month for the past ten years. Yes, rice crisis is all over Asian countries, Australia, and US. It is mainly because of the citizens of this polluted world neglecting the global warning making the rapid changes of weather recent years. Due to the snow storms, drought, flood and other devastating typhoon and hurricanes, many rice planting countries can't get good harvests this year. What's the main cause of rice crisis on top of rapid weather changes worldwide? I think the middle person from the financial sectors, particularly in investment and stock markets, initiating the food commodities fund by promising a decent return to all investors to purchase the food fund from bank of China, and many leading banks in Hong Kong. Actually there are enough rice (including the reserved rices) for all rice eaters in this world, but the greed of human nature has deprived the rights of the citizens in the third world to buy affordable foods. This makes the news of many children are awaiting to die because they can't afford to eat. The world bank has distributed 5 billion US dollars to easy the problem of starving in many the third world countries. THe root of evil is caused by the banks establised the food communities fund to prop up the rice, coffee and cooking oil prices for the return profit to the investors.
