Question:

What is this Jewish time period?

I'm doing research for an assignment on terrorism; and I came across an early Jewish group. The website I found the information is a Jewish website, and is intended for Jewish readers. They say "In 66 CE" and I assume that to be a time period. I've never heard this term before; only BC (Before Christ) and AD (Anno Domini). Can someone help me out and explain what this means?

  1. I am pretty sure that CE means 'common era'.  Since Jewish belief doesn't recognized Jesus as more than a man, it wouldn't make since for them to date their calenders by His birth.  However, since most of the world uses the Gregorian Calendar a compromise was needed thus CE and BCE came into use.
