I heard something, that in 2012, it will collide with earth and destroy it... or something like that. I don't believe this, but how far is Planet X from Earth?

Thank you.

  1. There are lots of crank websites telling us all about Planet X aka Nibiru and how it will collide with, or come close to earth in 2012. Curiously, they will never give precise details of its orbit or tell us exactly how far away it is or where to look for it in the sky. They know perfectly well that if anyone looked, they would see...nothing.

    It does not exist.

  2. Planet X is located in the Kuiper Belt.

  3. After everyone in here tells you otherwise, go tell your friends and have them tell their friends...

  4. What's this Planet X? A hoax.

If you don't believe it, why even worry how far it is from earth?

  5. Well i heard that the mayan calender ends  in 2012, so maybe they knew the earth would end in 2012..

  6. It is easy to dismiss something a hoax if you have done little reading or research to find a base to the theory.

Planet X is the planet spoken about in the Sumerian Texts discovered by Zecariah Sitchin, of course the original name is Niburu. Niburu is a rogue planet that comes into Earth's orbit every 36,000 years and was/is the home of the ANNUNAKI as it reads in the Sumerian Texts. The ANNUNAKI are said to be reptilian beings who came to Earth from Niburu to mind Gold and other minerals because their planet was dying. The Sumarians credit them for the creation of civilization.

They are also said to have established Kingship and The Divine Right To Rule on Earth. According to the tablets, Niburu(Planet X) lies just beyond Pluto and comes into Earth's orbit every 36,000yrs. as I mentioned earlier. The planet is said to return again by 2012 only because 2012 is the end of the MAYAN calendar and this is when Earth will enter into a new age (Aquarius) of light and Enlightenment that will last another 13,000 yrs. as we are coming out of 13,000 years of darkness.

Such 'legends' and 'mythology' are repetitive in every culture from every continent on Earth. Americas, India, Africa, etc. If you would like to more about Planet X in great detail, check out the works and books of  Zeceriah Sitchin and also Andrei Velikovsky.

    Hope this helps...

  7. Planet X (or Nibiru) is hypothetical.  Hypothetical means it doesn't exist, there is no evidence it exists, its someone's "idea".

But doom-sayers and all kinds of unscrupulous people will use anything to fool or scare the uneducated.

  8. It's a crock.

Just like the asteroid impact in 2012, or the Nostradaemus c**p.

    Ignore it all.

And thanks for the free points.

  9. No, there is no planet or other like sized object on a collision course with Earth.  This was predicted for 2003 by a loony woman who claims to be in telepathic contact with aliens from Zeta Reticuli.  Of course there was no such planet and it did not happen.

But when it was revealed that the Mayan "long count" calendar ran out of numbers in 2012, the freaks, fools and frauds transferred this "planet X" story to 2012.  The Mayans ran out of numbers because of their complicated counting system that could not handle large numbers, just as the system of Roman numerals can't.  The Mayan "long count" was just a count of days - one, two, three, four and so on and makes no predictions.  But the frauds don't care about that.

The other source for this nonsense was a liar and fraud called Sitchin who claimed to be able to translate Mesopotamian cuneiform writing.  He could not, but real scholars have been able to for a well over a century.  He just stole some of their work and invented the rest.

In some of the nonsense he scribbled, he claimed there was a planet that returns to the inner solar system every 3600 years, inhabited by gold stealers called Annunaki or something like that.  This planet is supposed to pass close to the Earth with disastrous consequences here, while it's all going on the Annunaki land and steal our gold or force people to mine it for them.  The planet is called Nibiru.  Unfortunately for Sitchin, there is no evidence of such an event around 1600BC.  He was a liar and a fraud.

In reality, Nibiru is another name for the Mesopotamian god Enlil who was associated with the planet we call Jupiter.  So in old Babylonian times Jupiter was called "Nibiru" or "Neberu" and also lent it's name to the ancient city of Nippur.

That planet is going to stay right in the orbit it has always been in, it's too heavy to move out of that.

If there was anything big approaching the Earth to arrive in 4.5 years time it would have to be fairly close by now and be obvious to anyone with a small astronomical telescope,  there is nothing.

It's all fake, fraud and foolery.

There have been real planets called "X".  They are far out in the distant solar system way beyond Pluto.  They have been called that temporarily until assigned a serial number or a name.

A few have discovered over the past several years, one is bigger than Pluto and is called "Eris", another a bit smaller than Pluto is called "Sedna".  These are called "dwarf planets" and are the reason that Pluto was "demoted" to dwarf planet  status since these objects are around the same size.  They do not approach the inner solar system, they stay  on the other side of Neptune except for Pluto which crosses the orbit of Neptune every orbit but then heads outwards after a few years.

  10. The Mayan calender ends on that date, not the earth.  It would be the same by saying our calender ends every Dec 31 but it just starts over again, same for the Mayan calender, it's just that they used a different star, not the sun.

  11. Nothing big enough to be noticed is going to collide with the Earth in 2012 (unless the government is hiding it).

There are always stories of "something" that will hit the Earth and kill us all off so I can't coment to the specific instance you are refering to. A link to were you read it would help.

There is also some more speculation of a "Planet X" out beyond Pluto's orbit.  Here is an article talking about it: http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/08...
