What is this about me?

In less than 12 hours time will be having my job interview. Prior to this i've only worked once before and am still not familiar in the working society.

But everytime when i've got a job opening, i would be getting so nervous and worried about it that sometimes i just give excuse to push the job opening away. Just so nervous as how would i fare on the interview, what would they ask and would i be able to fare on the job. I hate this feeling ...and i doesn't wish for it to crew my chance again this time.

Do i have some working phobia or am i just too nervous cause i'm new to working world? I don't consider myself anti social but maybe just not so sociable, when i'm familiar with the organisation or people after i'm feeling perfectly well working there.

  1. It sounds like you may have a milder form of social anxiety.

  2. i know where you are coming from.  i used to be terribly shy and withdrawn, nervous about talking to people. i got over it by doing the one thing that i feared the most.  i got a job at a hotel's front desk where i would be forced to talk to people. and evenually i stopped being nervous and started having fun.  i love to talk to people now, to chat them up or make them laugh.  I've been in customer service now for over 15 years and when it comes to a job interview where you have to "sale" yourself to this or that company, of course you're going to nervous, but all you have to remember is this:  The only thing they can do is say no.  that's all, it's not the end of the world, and if they say no, don't worry about it.  it's their loss.  that's how you have to think.  i'm not saying be boastful or cocky, you just have to think if you don't get the job you weren't meant for it and just try harder on the next interview.  but like i said all they can do is say no.  i refuse to beat myself up over it if it doesn't work out the first time.  you go in there and as long as you do your best, that's all that matters.

  3. Sounds to me like it's a self confidence issue. Sometimes it's just a matter of money. If you need the money badly enough all that anxiety will be replaced by your instinct to survive. So go on this interview and leave all that extra baggage at home. Look if they didn't think that you where a fit for the job they wouldn't interview you. Employers have so many to choose from today consider yourself lucky to have a chance at a job.
