What is this about...what could be his feelings to make him do this?

A picture that was taken a man and his daughter's mother. He was never in a relationship with her other than the few sexual encounters that ended in her getting pregnant. The man asks for the picture when it is developed....frames it and gives it to his daughter who does not live with him. Why did he do this if he has a hateful relationship with the mother of the child and does not have contact with her? He communicates only through a third party.

He might hate her doughters  mother but still he does it for his doughter.

He is trying to reach out in a small way to make sure he has contact with you somehow. Some people who have bad relationships with each other will never get along but if a child is produced, they both have the responsibility to care for it and get along enough to pass the child back and forth for visits with some amount of tact. He apparently, didn't get as involved as he should have. He probably feels guilty.
