On an old episode of jeff corwin on animal planet he had a large tank full of water in what seemed like a dried plain, he dug out what looked like a rock, and when he put the rock in the water, a few minutes later a fish emerged. What is this fish called?

Also, on the same episode i think, he dug a chunk of ice out of either the ground near a frozen lake, and melted it, and out came a frog. what is this frog?

and if you know of any more animals that seemingly come back to life, that'd be great! thanks!

Wood frogs have perfected the cryogenic freezing process. In the winter, as much as 35-45 percent of the frogs body may freeze, and turn to ice. Ice crystals form beneath the skin and become interspersed among the body's skeletal muscles. During the freeze the frog's breathing, blood flow, and heart beat cease. Freezing is made possible by specialized proteins and glucose, which prevent intracellular freezing and dehydration.

  2. African lung fish?

  3. It was an African lungfish. The lungfish always cocoons itself with a water  preserving mucus when the African "wet season" ends. There, it will hibernate underground, in that cocoon for up to six  months before  the "dry season" ends and the "wet season" begins again. It may seems quite odd for that hibernation time to be that long, but that's planet Earth for you.

I know another animal that can just suddenly come back to life, but is able to survive in space for hundreds of years  preserved in  an unconcious state. This animal is called a tartigrade ( AKA- Waterbear). This small, hardly visible arthropod is  the  best animal survivor known on Earth. The temperature can be below freezing, and the tiny little fellow will go into an unconcious state and won't wake up until the conditions a right for the tartigrade. Even though this little animal lives in water, it can survive at any other temperatures and environments. They are even more durable against  a nuclear explosoin than one of the best known survivors of all, the cockroach.
