What is this board game?

Question

This board game involves warriors or sometimes letters that you place on a chess board. The numbers are facing you and the opponents numbers are facing them. You have to guess and attack the other warriors and hope you have the higher number. There are variations besides warriors. Please help me out, I love this game but I can't remember it!!!

It is not a chess board, but similar in shape, and is called Stratego.
