Question:

What is this book? (maybe Dean Koontz)?

There's a book I read quite a while ago, and I can't remember what it was called. I think it might have been a Dean Koontz book.

The gist of it was that there were these evil little demon-like creatures that had started coming over to our world. There was a cop and he had a son and daughter, and his family was being attacked because he was such a good person (almost saint-like) that the creatures couldn't touch him. A woman, I think one of his co-workers, helped him to fight the creatures.

The only scene I remember vividly is one at or near the beginning of the book, where the man's daughter is hearing something under her bed at night. She thought it might be her brother, but her brother always laughs and gives himself away so she knows it can't be him. So she sticks a bat under the bed, and something grabs it. When she can finally pull it back out, it has teeth marks on it.

If anyone recognizes this, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!
