What is this bug called?? (6 legs, green eyes, big, hard, larger version of fly...)?

I was in the yard today, and I spotted this almost-dead bug..

I really want to know what it is called.

I didn't take a picture of it to show.. Dumb me.

But...

It was very hard.

Looked like a bigger version of a fly.. much bigger. (But it had 6 legs). So basically, it was like the same shiny color as a fly. Maybe 1.5inches?

It was REALLY hard when I poked it with a stick.

Umm.. It had small pointy out-y green eyes.

It had large teal-ish wings..

And it made a VERY loud noise when it flied!!

(I know this from past experiences with the same bug..)

Possibly a cicada.
