I'm looking for a cable that will split 2 sources into one output on a stereo. It has a switch on it to switch between the two sources. It plugs into the 2 female stereo inputs (white and red) on the back of the stereo. 2 sets of 2 male stereo outputs (white and red) plug into it.

  1. You don't want to plug it into one output on a stereo. Without the switch, it is called a "Y" cable and you can use 2 outputs from 2 other sources and plug them in to one stereo input. There is really no need for the switch, other than if you wanted both sources on at the same time and then wished to switch between them. A simple quad pole, double throw switch would do the job. Just use 3 cables, cut one end off of them and add the switch to make the "Y". The ends of the source wires go to the ends of the switch and the ends of the stereo wire goes to the wiper or center of the switch. The grounds (shields) can all tie together.

  2. I would say it would be either an Audio Switch or Audio Selector.
