Awhile back i bought a sony memoy stick pro duo sd type card to use with my sony vaio ux380n micro pc. the little card has a program called readyboost (or maybe its readyboot) on it. i don't know too much about sd lash memory cards, but i read that if you turn on this readyboot program thingy, it increases your compter's speed performance a great deal. can someone reply to me and simply explain this readyboot thing to me? and also if it does in fact speed up my computer once it is activated? thanks, and please help me with this?

  1. Readyboost is a part of windows vista.  It uses your memory stick or sd memory as part of your computers memory and increases the memory size.  Say if you have 2 GB RAM in your computer and plug in a 1GB USB drive, you can increase your RAM by the extra GB.  Rad more at wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReadyBoost

  2. Well, there are lots of programs which say they can increase the speed but it is all lie. Even if it increases a little bit it decreases another part of your computer's speed. So, jsut don't use them. Delete it. I hope this helps you.

  3. Nothing Directly speeds up your computer other than CPU Speed and The amount of ram you have installed.

The memory card only varyies in the amount of size it has available for you to use. The Program that it has is another of the so called speed boosters that do not work, Yet they are inviting to those that are not familiar with the technology and how it works.

  4. PC speed is always determined by a combination of factors.

(RAM, CPU, HDD speeds, motherboard architecture, etc)

Readyboost is software that allows your PC to use available space on a memorystick as virtual memory.

It does make a slight difference, but only if the rest of your system is up to scratch.

  5. Not Familiar. however your start ups and quick launch.

connection and RAM are the only thing that will speed you up! maybe it was for a particular program?

  6. it allows the computer to use the flash memory as a cache.  since the sd card is solid start it doesn't have to waste time with all that spinning and searching for things.  so it can save often used things in a cache that you can access quickly.  it makes programs and the internet go a little faster.
