What is this dark brown vaginal discharge?

Let me just start off by saying im 18 and i've only had my period for exactly a year! Yes...LATE bloomer.

I had unprotected s*x on 8-22. Because of my actions i took Plan B..aka...Morning After pill.

Im not supposed to start until 9-4 (give or take because im still irregular)

Well today is 8-29 ..(6 days after taking the pill...7 days before my next period) and i noticed this very dark brown discharge. It looks kinda like thick mud. So much that i had to buy tampons.

My lower stomach is in the WORST pain its ever been in.

What does this mean?! Could the pill have not worked?! Is there something wrong with me?!

The pill could have altered the hormone levels (I know this is stating the obvious but I had to start somewhere) which means that the discharge could be the start of an earlier period than you are expecting. For the first few years colour changes are normal anyway as are the lengths of time actually having a period and the depth of the discomfort suffered during this time. If I were you I would try not to worry, let the next month go by and see if you revert back to what you would normally expect. I know you realize that unprotected s*x is dangerous if you are not wanting a child just yet. Maybe you can look upon this as a wake-up call to use protection rather than keep going through this stress. Good luck and best wishes. UK
