The other day my sink was clogged and I hired someone to unclog it. The plumber used this device which seemed to force air into the drain and pushed the clog out. It looked like a small cylinder. Perhaps a pump? What is it called and where can I buy one? Thanks.

  1. The only thing I've ever seen is a pluming snake.  It might be a type of plunger.  You might try the hardware store plumbing section.

  2. its proper term is a drain auger or closet auger you can get them from your local tool rental they are less than 15 dollars a day for small hand powered ones

  3. The first link is as close to cylindrical as I could find...it attaches to a garden hose, so may not be what you have in mind.

The second link is a bit spendier but could definitely come in handy!

  4. Is it a "snake"?

  5. plunger

  6. snake for main drain- auger for sink and toilet--they make jet pumps but be careful can blow pipes out

  7. It is called a plumbing snake.  They carry it at Home Depot.

  8. Some call it a waterjet machines.  You should be able to purchase them as supply stores like Lowe's or Home Depot.

  9. I think what you are talking about is a drain blaster.  You pump a cylinder to build up air pressure then put it over the drain and pull the trigger.

Lowes sells a plastic one for about $30.00  Of course you can get a commericial one for about $250.00  The plastic one works for slightly clogged drains.

    Cobra

    Air Drain Blaster
