  1. Creme fraiche ...

    2 c. whipping cream

    5-7 tsp. buttermilk

Add the buttermilk to the whipping cream (unwhipped) and shake well.  Let stand at room temperature 24 hours.  Refrigerate and it will thicken to the consistency of sour cream.  Serve over fresh fruit, desserts.....

  2. It's spelled Creme Fraiche, and it is a cultured cream product.  you can make it from cultured buttermilk and heavy cream or you can buy the real thing at a gourmet food store.  If you do buy it, you can then use a few tablespoons of it added to a pint of cream to make more, almost indefinitely.  Just add a few tablespoons to a pint of cream, cover and leave it out on the counter for 24 hours.  once it thickens, put it in the fridge and it will last a few weeks, once you have used most of it, just make more.

  3. You can make mock creme fraiche by whipping 4 parts heavy cream with 1 part sour cream and add sugar or vanilla to taste if you like....It's quite good!

  4. it is like a sweat sour cream you can get it at Wal-Mart

  5. It's pretty much the same as sour cream and can be used as a substitute.

  6. Hi, It's Creme Fraiche or Creme Fresh. It's easy to make yourself.  Use 1 cup whipping cream and 2 tablespoons of buttermilk. Mix together in a glass jar and cover for 8-24 hours. It's best to use within the week of when you make it.

You can buy it in gourmet food stores.

    Good luck, Michelle

  7. It's creme fraiche, (fresh cream in translation).

A cross between fresh and sour cream.

That's how my tastebuds describe it.
