so i cut it off and i'm going to see whats inside. i don't worry about hurting something because it was on one of i guess i will call it flower branch or stalk. my neighbor's daylillies are similar except yellow. hers has these things all over. what are they? its looks nothing like the flowers before they open up. if anyone needs or wants to see the flowers email me and i will go get a picture.

  1. I just found this on-line (see below).

The round ball pods you describe are seed pods.  Unless you want to save some seeds, I'd cut them off and get rid of them.  They only take energy away from the plant as it expends energy to form the seeds.  If you want to save the seeds watch them closely as they turn brown.  Just as soon as you start to detect a split remove the pod.  You'll find a bunch of shiny black seeds inside.  They're easy to start but I'd wait until early spring and start indoors in regular potting soil kept moist but not soggy and warm.  They should germinate in less than a month and will  look like grass.  They probably won't bloom until the second season.

Thanks for your question!  I just learned something new too!

  2. It's a seed pod.  Since it is still green, the seeds inside are probably not ripe enough to be viable.

  3. That is a seed pod
