What is this green cocoon in my garden?

Hi

I have found a green cocoon on my garden chair. It is about 3/4 of an inch and covered in silk. Does anyone know what this is?

  3. It came from a green caterpillar. I bet it will produce an insignificant butterfly. Put it in a glass jar, and you will get your answer in a couple of weeks. The monarch butterfly caterpillar feeds on milkweed only, and should not be in your garden.

  7. Oh, that's a monarch butterfly's cacoon if it has a row of black dots near the top of one side.
