What is this guy i know pays a bill from his checking account to macys for $485 but he does not have enough ?

i told him dont do it becuase the bank will charge you a fee and you will get screwed so can someone please help me.

let him dig his own grave - he'll learn a costly lesson - what is he even doing buying stuff at an expensive store like Macy's if he doesn't have the money to pay - his bank will charge an overdraft fee and if any other chekc or ATM entries try to clear while his balance is negative, he will get hit with more charges and Macy's may charge him a bad check fee also and/or shut down his acct

His check will bounce. Macy's will charge him a fee in addition to the $485 and his bank will charge him fees until the $485 AND the fees are covered. He should have just sent a check for what he had in his account.

Macy's isn't like the gestapo, they would have accepted a partial payment rather having to deal with this mishap. He can't even stop payment on the check because he doesn't have the money to cover it.

He's gonna lose a lot of money either way. You were right to tell him not to do it. Tell him to get the money into his checking account ASAP before the check is ran (and bounced.)
