  1. Yep.  Text changed completely. And that's just one passage, differing between two modern texts.  Now think about how many changes must have been made in the last two thousand years, translating between so many different languages, through so many editions.

  2. This is why I use the King James Bible. It was one of the few versions of the Bible that was actually translated from the Received Text (Textus Receptus), and it is the most consistent with the Greek and Hebrew. Many other versions are full of errors, as you just discovered with the contradiction.

  3. The division of the verses appears to be different.  The second verse IS in the NIV. Luke 24:49.

  4. Luke 24:46  King James Bible

And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

I have 14 different Bibles (for comparative studies like this) here and they all say much the same as the KJV.

Never heard of the "Worldwide English New Testament"

  5. Looks like the condensed version. They simply shorten to "what the Father has promised to give you" instead of telling what it was specifically, that " Christ would suffer and rise from the dead the third day."

In time I am sure Satan will have God's word shortened to just a few verses, but the Spirit of God will not allow us to put any value in them, so why bother having them written. Just cuz he can, I suppose!

  6. Yep, when the bible was written it was written with chapters and verses assigned to it.  There are several different versions of verses depending on who assigned them.  If you read the NIV you find that verse 49 reads:

And (behold) I am sending the promise of my Father 12 upon you; but stay in the city [Jerusalem] until you are clothed with power from on high."

So, no, the text hasn't changed, but rather how the verses are numbered.  Nice try...but you'd have to think us foolish to accept your premise.

  7. The Bible isn't good for anything but Bible Fights! Awest
