they took the goal away from the wings during the wings/stars series because holmstrom's butt was in the crease but i have seen plenty of goals that are allowed when a guy is in the crease. can anyone explain the rule to me?

and tonight when the wings had another goal taken away because of holmstrom.. was that because he was in the crease or goalie interference?

  1. Tonights goal was interference because Holmstrom had his stick in Fleurys mid section.  It didnt affect his ability to stop the puck though and it shouldnt have been called.  The refs dont have the benefit of replays like we do though.

The call in dallas was also a bad one.  I really have no idea what they saw wrong on that play.

  2. Crease rule---If Holmstrom is on the ice and accross center ice and the Wings score, the goal is disallowed and holmstrom is sent to the sin bin for 2 min.  Just kidding.  The question has been answered above.

  3. It is because hockey stick was in the way of goalie when the oppese team try to score a goal this is call interfence

becase the goalie must do the job  of saving the puck when the oppose teammate is trying to score

  4. well because holmstrom is so well known to "harass" if you will, goalies then the referees keep an eye on him.  tonight was a classic example of them ddoing their job.  He clearly gave Fleury a tiny little tap with his stick and therefore threw him off.  in the Dallas series there was one before that holmstrom was in the blue paint and they allowed it.  Then when it is close they will call him on it so he knows the boundary or he will just keep getting in their grill and it will get out of control

  5. Fleury was out of the crease. I think the rule's name should be changed to the Holmstrom rule, since he gets a penalty these days just for being in the slot with everyone else.

Watched that replay from every angle and there was no way Fleury could have stopped that shot.

Holmstrom was not in the crease against Dallas, yet Ericsson of the Stars was parked in the blue paint when he scored on Osgood, receiving a pass. The goal stood without review.

It's a double standard on Holmstrom.

Good thing the Wings just shrug off the fact the refs have their instructions to help Crosby win the Cup.

  6. the in the crease rule is as follows:

"if you wear the number 96 no matter where you are on the ice you'll be in the crease"

    wait a second...

    of course im kidding! ...almost

tonights incident was a 'goaltender interference" call which meant that holmstrom didnt allow the goalie to make the save. which... he wouldnt have saved with or without holmstrom tickling him with his stick.

  7. From what I understand, it's one of those grey, non-defined areas that is a complete judgment call for the referee to make.

  8. it's because bettman is in  love with crosby.

  9. its something they just pulled out of thin air.

bettemen is an [insert rude comment]

bad officiating seems to be consistent this year anyway.

horrible call for any team to take....especially the playoffs.

  10. Yeah, I can see why the refs would keep a closer eye on Holmstrom. However, the last two goals that were disallowed were absolute B.S.  Had MAF been in the crease when Holmstrom's stick went between his pads, I'd still be pissed, but I could see the reasoning in the call.  The way the refs are calling these no-goals against Holmstrom, I'm surprised they didn't give him a penalty for willing Fleury to trip when entering the ice at the beginning of the game.  Babcock looked pissed after that one.  I'm not clear on the crease rule, but I never heard of goalie interference when the goalie comes OUT of the crease to make the save.  d**n, Babs is freakin' SCARY looking when he gets irked.

  11. From my understanding of the rules, it is goalie interference if the goalie is in the crease (blue painted area in front of the net) and is kept from making the save due to the actions of an opposing player.  Also, a member of the scoring team is not supposed to be in the crease at all for the goal to count.  However, once the goalie leaves the crease, I think he is treated just like any other player as far as interference and what not.

  12. The crease rule is, if you are a certain player, dont be near the crease, or we will take away the goal......................
