  1. It looks like a dead, starving coyote

  2. Pandas were a myth too until someone caught one and stuck it in a zoo .

  3. Most cases of a 'chupacabra' capture in the US have been genetically tested to be coyotes. However, I wouldn't allow that to completely rule out the idea that these coyotes are performing the 'chupacabra' style attacks. Names are just names. Whatever the creature is that is attacking livestock in this specific way can be called a "chupacabra", as the word only describes a creature performing X behaviors.

The following is from the linked Wiki article, which will have some very interesting links to back up the info.

"In July 2004, a rancher near San Antonio, Texas, killed a hairless dog-like creature, which was attacking his livestock.[6] This animal, initially given the name the Elmendorf Beast, was later determined by DNA assay conducted at University of California, Davis to be a coyote with demodectic or sarcoptic mange. In October 2004, two more carcasses were found in the same area. Biologists in Texas examined samples from the two carcasses and determined they were also coyotes suffering from very severe cases of mange."
