I planted a peach tree 4 or 5 years ago and the peaches have begun to appear. But there is like this jelly like type stuff on the outside of the peaches. What is that?

  1. It's like juice or weeping, they are suppose to do that.

  2. I don't know, but someone choked on a peach pit, AND peaches make your thighs fat and NOW they have weird jelly stuff...stay away from peaches!!

  3. It could be from a fruit tree pest called the "plum curculio". The adults are a mottled beetle with a long snout (weevil like). This gummy substance is from the adult beetles when they feed. They insert their beak into the fruit and after feeding, the fruit secretes the juices from within. They also lay their eggs inside of the fruit and the larvae will feed on the inside causing considerable damage. After about 3 weeks of feeding they will crawl from the fruit and fall to the ground where they will pupate. Once they larvae get inside of the fruit there is basically no cure. A well planned out spray program needs to be followed starting in the spring just after the flowers drop and again 10 days later. Hope this answers your question...

  4. Here is a site with a picture. I believe Billy Ray has told you correctly. My trees have the same thing....reminds me to treat them!
