Question:

What is this job called where you make a prediction about something and go undercover and see if you're right?

lets say for example..you think that sleeping disorders happen because of your daily routine.. and you make an experiment on it using people and see if its true. i'm not talking about chemical/science stuff but stuff with people. is this a job? and if so what is it called?

  1. Science doesn't always have to be with chemicals. It can be social science or anything else...just depends on what you are studying. So maybe your psychologist or a doctor who specializes in sleep disorders might run an experiment that you are talking about. But really, the scientific process to problem solving can be applied in any sort of situation. Form a hypothesis and test it out, people do it everyday without realizing it.  


  2. I haven't run into any job like that, neither has my husband, the physicists.

    Wait - if a person claims to be disabled in an accident, sometimes the attorneys for the other side do send someone undercover to follow them and tape their activities. but this has nothing to do with science.

    If a scientist, such as a psychologist wants to get information, they rarely observe the person in their daily life.    Experiments and observation are usually done in controlled environments, such as labs.
