What is this mushroom/flower i found n Wisconsin?

  1. That is quite amazing and I'm afraid I have no idea.

    The stem looks like a shroom but the top looks like a flower. It does also look like there's no root system to the stem which again would suggest it is some sort of fungi. Plus no chlorophyl (it's not green) again suggesting it's fungi.

    Possibly some species of Birds nest fungi (UK common name) but in the UK they are dark coloured and don't look like flowers.

    Might be one to take your your local university, nothing like it on the mushroom ID sites I've been looking at.

    I'm going to be keeping my eye on this to see if anyone else has a clue !
