i bought it used. it's 2006.

  1. CDI (capacitor discharge ignition)

    motorcycle batteries are extremely small this allows for the battery to send off a higher charged current to the spark plug, without draining the battery faster then the stator is capable of recharging.

    you can't run your bike without it, since this peice is responsible for sending the current to the spark plug in the first place..... without it the current will never reach the plug.
