  1. Walkers

  2. the job title is hot walker

  3. The person walking the horse before the race, in the paddock  is normally his groom. Hotwalkers will walk him back at the barn, after the race.

  4. The groom walks the horse to the track & into the paddock area.  The hotwalker accompanies the groom with a bucket & needed supplies for the horse.  After the race, the groom is in charge of putting the halter back on the horse & handing it over to the hotwalker who takes it back to the barn area where it is walked (cooled down) for apx 1 hour & allowed to drink water in small amounts on a timed schedule.  Then it gets a bath & has to be walked again for apx 30-60 min!(until it is dry)

If the horse goes to the winners circle, then the groom is the one holding the horse for the photo & they hand it off to the hotwalker who takes the horse to the holding barn for blood & urine samples & an exam by the vet.  The hotwalker walks the horse for one hour in the holding barn area before it is released to return to it's own barn, where it is bathed (held by hotwalker & the groom does the bathing), walked until dry(by the hotwalker), & the groom then brushes, combs & massages the horse & wraps the legs & allows the animal to eat & rest.  The hotwalker must stay if the horse needs further exams or attention with an injury.  Sometimes it can be an "all-night" affair!  And you still must be to work on time the next morning at 4:30am!  No breaks & no days off.  Overtime is unheard of.  That's life at the racetrack.

  5. these handlers are groom.   i think u donot know about

their mental level  hehehe  hot walker  promotion poste name is groom they surf all life on that poste .

  6. Over here in GB we refer to them as the lad or lass.  They can also referred to as the groom, but the most common phrase used is "stable lad".

  7. Grooms take the horses to the paddock to be saddled and walk them around the paddock. Unless I had more than 1 running per night I always had to cool my own as the hot walkers only worked in the AM walking hots coming off the track from training.

  8. Im a jockey by trade, here in Australia we called those people stable hands.

  9. either WALKER or a HOT WALKER/

  10. A groom is the person who walks the horse to and around the paddock before the races.  As well as gets the horse ready for the race,  feeds the horse, cleans the stall, etc.

  11. grooms

  12. It is usually a groom that works for the trainer but sometimes a hotwalker will be used.

If you "haul in" to run and do not bring help, you hire someone (a groom or hotwalker) to "walk over" for the races.  There are always "off duty" grooms and hot walkers around the receiving barn looking to pick up extra cash.

[My grooms do their own hot walking and walkovers unless they have made prior arrangements with me.  I do not like to have different hands on different horses, my grooms know "their" horses well.]

  13. The job is a hot walker. They walk the horses around to get them cooled off or warmed up before or after a race. The grooms usually lead them to the paddock. The trainers usually circle them around in the paddock!

  14. horse handlers
