Question:

What is this religious kink that our society is on about s*x?

It seems like anti-s*x sentiments are at an all time high. At our schools we are teaching misinformation by the truck load of fake statistic and fear mongering all the while my taxes are flipping the bill for someone else's religious kink. I constantly hear people say s*x is at an all time high and I wonder if they are just letting the 60's and 70's slip their mind. So where is all this coming from? Why now? Is this just extra energy left over from the fundies since they've given up on fighting Rock and Rap music and no their big kick is "s*x is the devil"? What is going on?!

  1. s*x is natural, I enjoy it and Im not scared to admit it. However those who can't practice it safely spoil it for everyone

  2. People en masse tend to react slowly to things that have happened on a large scale in their society, and once the problem is being corrected, they are slow to stop reacting.

Right-wingers of the US are still reacting to the teenage pregnancy and abortion rates of the 1980's and early 90's (statistics at link provided)

We are also reacting to the over-abundance of s*x in the media these days, the plethera of pornography, and the fear that our children will be victims of the media or predators.

Pornography, and the easy access to it, is especially a growing societal problem, as it has been directly linked to increased aggression, rape, and child molestation.  Statistics provided in link:

  3. The media loves us to be scared. Who cares if more teenagers or people in general are having s*x. Getting away from media/political perspective, Done right s*x is a beautiful act between two people who love each other, and to say that is wrong, is only the same as saying freedom of speech is wrong. s*x is an expression, I believe firmly in the freedom of Expression.

Also regarding teenagers, they are horny, s*x is a novelty and there is no getting away from the fact despite abstinence pledges and what have you, they are going to have s*x, so rather than try and stop them by being silly and childish about it, Lets be honest. Yes you can get pregnant or an STI but if your careful and take these precautions, you most likely won't have any problems.

Here in England our kids are taught proper contraception, my daughter's science class has just been shown the correct workings of a condom, on a model p***s. What is wrong with that? Thats a good thing, short of putting her in some kind of weird chastity belt, I can't stop her if she wants to have s*x (and now that she is 16 its legal for her to as well) So it is better in my mind if she can at least be capable of ensuring her partner is wearing a condom correctly. Also Here in the UK one can get free condoms from the chemist. There goes that Pesky socialised medicine form the NHS taking preventative measures against Diseases. I think though a similar system in the US wouldn't be a bad idea (just the condoms not the universal health care people don't seem to like it) but then I can imagine the uproar from Hannity, O'reily and their ilk.

  4. The fact that fundies are controlling s*x education in our classrooms is a very scary thing indeed.

  5. They'll soon get bored with that and move onto some other "mortal sin".

  6. Abstinence-only s*x ed. lessons are a large factor. Conservatives have caused them spread faster than herpes.

  7. Oh, please.  I could as easily ask, what is this obsession that the left and the media have about Gov. Palin's pregnant daughter (ooooh!) to the point of unearthing comments Sen. McCain has made about s*x education in schools, as if this is some kind of "gotcha!" that has any bearing on the issues.  Forget the economy, national security, health care reform; MY GAWD HER DAUGHTER IS PREGNANT.  This is such a crock.

I came of age in the 60s and 70s.  We thought we invented s*x.  So does every generation once the hormones kick in.  The conservatives are, obviously, not anti-s*x -- just against indiscriminately s******g anything that breathes and then wanting to quickly get rid of the consequences.

  8. It would seem the place for you to get the answer to this question is at your school, where you think they are "teaching misinformation by the truck load of fake statistic and fear mongering."

As a parent, I do not view the role of the school to be socializing my child in terms of values.  That's my job.  If the approach taken by his school scares the daylights out of him about having s*x before he is emotionally and financially ready for the responsibilities, I'm all for it.

Edit:  If you are in your 30's, how do you know what they are teaching in school?

  9. It's nonsense designed to scare fundies into voting for Mister Moral McCain.
