I went to a nature conservation site in Eastern Ontario, and I found this mushroom, growing in a tree stump. I have no idea what it is, and I'm interested to know.

  1. One sec, I will try to identify it, though You may have to give characteristics of it.  well it could be

    "Nolanea quadrata(salmon-colored Nolanea)"

although it looks a lot like these three

    "Hygrocybe cantharellus(Chanterelle Waxcap)"

    "Hygrocybe marginata(orange-Gill Waxcap)"

    or "Mycena leaiana"

Though I could probably find a more exsact answer if you gave characteristics of Size, color, texture, Type of gills, shape of cap, And most importantly the SPORE PRINT.

Ether way you should probably not eat it.  Cause there are some people that like gormet mushrooms.

And oh yeah, one more thing.   Do not pick mushrooms until they are fully mature. Also in some areas it is illegal to pick some mushrooms under law. Just to give you a heads up, allthough I think it is legal in ontario...well Cause I live there.
