Question:

What is this strange part on my guitar?

My electric guitar, your everyday Strat copy, has all the normal parts a guitar should have-- Tone k***s, Volume k**b, 5-way Pickup Toggle Switch... but there's another part I've never seen before-- In addition to these parts is another 2-way switch.

I've searched all over the internet, but can't seem to figure this out

Would anyone possibly be able to tell me what this switch is, and what it might do?

I took a picture, if that might help:

  1. yeah it must be the rhytm/lead switch..

  2. I noticed the bridge pick-up is a humbucker pickup.  Now, on some guitars there are switches that convert the humbuckers into a single-coil pick-up, and that may be what that switch does.  But in all honesty, that's just a guess

  3. maybe a rhythm/tone switch??? i dont know what it does but my friends les paul has a switch like that

  4. Callahan sounds like he's on the right track,  some humbuckers can be switched to single coil.  Do you notice a difference in tone, when you flip the switch?
