What is this thingg! read?

Question

ok so you have a laptop.

on the left side/edge of it, like where all the ports and **** are, theres this like button type thing, and when you push it, it like comes out further, then you push it again and it goes back in again. but then this little plastic grid thing comes out haha. what is ittt? & what is it for?

it's an acer laptop.

but i know hp ones have it too because the laptops at my school have the same plastic grid ****.

Actually it's an express card slot, and you can store an express card remote (which is available now with every new laptop) but you have to have an infrared thing on the front of the laptop.  Also you can use it for HD Sound cards, TV Tuner, and for extra USB connections.--Hope this helped you!

That my dear is a pc port.  You use it to add extra stuff onto your laptop since you cant open it like a full sized computer to upgrade and add extras.  Its used to add things like extra usb ports or a wireless card.
