1. The kind that takes care of newborns in the hospital are neonatologists. Once they leave the hospital then they're referred to a Pediatrician. However Pediatricians take care of kids up to 19 years old (give or take), so if you want babies only - neonatologist is for you. You can't be a Pediatrician and only want to take care of kids up to 1 year old.

  2. Just_let_the_sunshine_in's mom is right--specialists in very young babies are neonatologists. For well babies, though, a regular pediatrician will handle all ages. You would call in a neonatologist if there was a problem, or a neonatologist might be working in the nursery after a baby is born for the first postnatal check. Neonatologists don't generally see well babies for regular visits after that, though they might follow a patient they'd had after discharge--a former preemie, for example--before the regular pediatrician took over.

  3. Pediatrician - Doctors who specialize on infants of any age.

  4. I know that nurses that take care of newborns are called neonatal nurses. I love babies too and have often considered becoming a neonatal nurse!

My mom works on the pediatrics floor at a hospital and I asked her if there are specialists for the babies and she said that there are doctors called neonatologists who take care of the newborns. Who knew?!

  5. uuuuuuuhhh a pediatrician.......

  6. A Pediatrician.
