What is this white stuff in my hair and how can I get rid of it????

I've got this white stuff in my hair(not lice), what is is called? and how can i get rid of it? i wash my hair daily but i did used hair gel a year ago and that's when it started.

It's called dandruff.  You need to get a dandruff shampoo and that should take care of it.

its dandruff and gel clogs your pores.you should use less amounts of gel or pomade instead and try head and shoulders shampoo. washing your hair  every day also dries ur scalp which also causes flaking wash ur hair every 2nd day instead

its when you have dry scalp.

try head and shoulders or dont wash your hair everyday because it drys out your scalpt

and if you use gel when it dries up it starts to flake but it can wash out.

if you have really bad dandruff or watever you have try not washing your hair so much ad wash it like one or twice a week for a while

i had them.. i tried different shampoos bit the best one and only one that really worked was t-gel by neutrogena. It may not smell so nice (medicated) but i just condition my hair after... and its fine!

It could be dandruff. The hair gel may have dried out your hair follicles too much and therefore, you have dry scalp which is flaking out when you shower. Get some dandruff shampoo (Head & Shoulders or the like) and see if that helps.

If you are still using the hair gel and the white flakes continue, stop using it. It could be that you are using too much of the gel and it's sitting at your scalp too long and drying out and becoming flaky itself. I've seen this before with people who use extensive amounts of hair spray and it starts to build up on their hair.

Shampoo and condition daily if you're going to continue using the hair gel.
