What is tivo??

I have been trying to get info about tivo...itis now available in canada but I cant find much that exsplains what it is. Is there a hd tivo. is it just like the pvrs that are offered by loal cable companies, just cheaper. I am all up for saving money....lol

Ok.  Here's what you want to know.  TiVo is a SERVICE.  It is a service provided for a monthly subscription price.  When you purchase a TiVo DVR it will actually work without the TiVo subscription but I wouldn't purchase a TiVo DVR and not subscribe to the service.  TiVo does give you many more options than the cable company can provide with their DVRs. Plus, you can get excellent customer service/care with TiVo.  What I would suggest is to go to the TiVo website and read about TiVo.  Just type TiVo and then .com

into your browser and you can see all the terrific things that TiVo can offer you.  Of course, if all you want is a DVR to record, you can easily get that from your cable company but you're not going to get all these terrific options offered by TiVo, plus you're going to pay a monthly rental fee for your cable company DVR....it might not be as much as your TiVo subscription but there is absolutely NO comparison between TiVo and a plain old DVR.

I have two TiVo units, the first purchased over 5 years ago and the second, about 2 years ago.  There is also a High Definition TiVo that is superb.  You can really find out everything you need to know by visiting the TiVo website.  To me, it's worth the monthly price and you do get a discount on the subscription for any additional units.

Good luck!! You will never want a cable company DVR after you have TiVo, trust me!

As the previous post stated, TiVo is a service that provides a user-friendly interface for recording shows from your cable or satellite service.  It will cost you for the purchase of the box and the monthly service - but you get what you pay for.

TiVo's interface is so easy to use - a few clicks of the remote will get all your programs scheduled to record automatically whenever they air.  TiVo features Season Passes, WishLists, Universal Swivel search, and the ability to link TiVos together using your home network.

Comparing a TiVo to a cable company DVR is like comparing a BMW to a Yugo - you'll get what you pay for.  If you are looking for an HD DVR, you won't do better than with TiVo.

Yes there is a HD DVR from Tivo. But tivo can be very exspensive depending on what DVR Box you want.heres a link with all the dvrs tivo offers....
