Hi,

I am going over to a friends house tonight it's a couple, there will be me my husband and his friends and this couple, so just a quiet dinner. I have met them a few times and they are a lovely laid back couple.

I am going to take a bottle of wine, but wanted to know if it would be ok to take maybe some chocolates or flowers for her (i work next to Borough Market in London so can get some good quality flowers, chocs etc).

Would this be a bit much and what would you take?

Thanks

xx

  1. I would choose one item. If she loves wine, bring the bottle. If she adores flowers, go with that!

For instance, I don't drink alcohol, and I don't always eat chocolates, so flowers would be ideal! So, go with one lovely gift, and that will make a statement of friendship!

  2. Yes i think that that would be fine

  3. not too much, me i'd show up with half a hog slumped over my shoulder ... but that's just me.

  4. if its a quiet dinner, i suppose chocolates would be nice as an after snack kinda dessert. but the flowers may be a tad much considering its no occasion. however chocolates are for anyone! although if you were buying chocolates, i recommend Ferrero Rocher. its a real crowd pleaser.

  5. A SMALL select and special chocs just for her would make a lot of difference,

  6. wine is fine but when u mentioned flowers and chocs i did think it was a little too much, maybe just one or the other

  7. Your setting a standard and although this may be the way you'd like to be treated you probably want want to meet this standard everytime so take one of each of these items to any of your next visits one at a time.

  8. I'ts good to take things but don't put her on the spot. If you take a lot then she will feel obliged to do the same when she comes to you. The wine is enough. It's you they want to see.

  9. I think wine is enough as it is not a special occasion. You dont want to set a standard that she will feel obliged to continue if you invite her around. She might not have access to the same market and could end up well out of pocket trying to keep up with a standard you have set.

  10. I don't think it would be too much at all.

  11. just the wine should be good as bringing dessert (the chocolate) would be a little bit much as they probably have dessert made. The flowers may look like your hiting on the host.

  12. Flowers would be nice. Chocs would be a bit much. And certainly not wine and flowers AND chocs. It's an evening with a couple, not a date! ;) But wine and flowers kind of go together.
