Toefl (Test Of English as a Foreign Language) is an English proficiency test which includes the testing of  listening, grammar and reading skills. If you wish to study in US, you'll definitely have to take Toefl test. But for UK, IELTS is taken instead. For a country like Singapore, most universities there recognizes both tests. Some universitiies in Australia also accept Toefl score but I'm not sure all of them do. You probably should take Toefl test after you've finished your highschool as the toefl score is valid for only two years. After two years, you'll need to take the test again. However, you should start preparing for the test now. Reading alot and listening to English - spoken videos and music will help you to get a good score.
