  1. Tables with linen table cloths are better. You don't need your wedding, no matter how cheap to look like a picnic area. Save some money up and rent the tables and chairs.

  2. picnic tables fit in perfectly with the setting.  As long as they are comfortable places to sit and put their plates down ti works.

    Favors are less importants.

Spend on a bit of decor, flowers and music

  3. Forget the favors!  Favors are for kid's parties.

I would use tables and chairs because they are more supportive and comfortable than picnic tables and benches.  Stay with the casual idea by using bright mixed bouquets of flowers and light airy dresses.

Maybe the men may want to wear casual shirts and khaki pants to keep with the casual theme.

  4. Everything sounds fine. I just wanted to mention that I think an 80's cover band would rock! And totally ditch the favors, nobody really uses that stuff anyway!

  5. Buffet BBQ is good,  just make sure the invitation let's everyone know it's casual.  Picnic tables are fine-dress up the tents and play up the 'country-ness' about your theme:  bales of hay, checkered tablecloths, sunflowers in simple vases, forget favours and other traditions reserved for more formal weddings.  Congratulations and good luck

  6. I would not use picnic benches.  The people at your wedding will not all be young like you.  Aunt Agnes will have to hike up her skirt and hoist a leg over the bench to get seated.  Plus, if the benches are outside, the ground will probably be a little uneven, making a bench wobbly for everyone seated on it.  Then, when someone decides they want a second piece of that delicious cake, it's hoisting legs and wobbly benches all over again.  Chairs would be way more comfortable for everyone.

If you want a party favor that will be wonderful, here is an idea that my husband and I have done for weddings (we are wedding photographers as a hobby):

The idea is to have a photo of your wedding for each of your guests to take home after the reception.  Here's how you do it:

    1.  One hour before wedding, have the photographer (or a friend) take 8-10 DIGITAL pictures of you and your hubby dressed for the wedding.  Use a new memory chip with no other photos on it.

    2.  Take the memory chip out of the camera, and give it to a friend.  This person becomes the "runner".

    3.  The runner takes the memory chip to the local drugstore and picks out the best photo.  It is important that there are only your 8 or 10 photos on the chip, so the person doesn't have to wade through too many pictures.

    4.  The runner picks out a pretty wedding boarder for the photo, and adds text such as "Ben and Emily   August 2, 2008".

    5.  While runner waits at the store, the store prints out one photo for each of your guests.  (they will be about 50 cents each)

    6.  Runner brings photos to the reception and sets one photo at each place setting.

    7.  Guests are amazed that they get to take home a photo of you and your hubby.  (So much more appreciated than white M&M's.)

  7. I would personally get tables and chairs.  Get the wood fold up ones chances are you probably can rent them or borrow from a family member.  I would also suggest favors but They really don't need to be expensive.  My centerpieces are going to be vases filled with purple candy(purple is our wedding color).  Then every one is going to be given a white paper bag and they can fill up their bags at nights end viola centerpieces and favors all in one ;-)
