AVG detects the virus, but when i click to move it the the virus vault, it does not appear there. Therefore, AVG is not allowing me to delete it. Is there a manual way of removing this virus from my PC?

Thanks! :-)

  1. i have the same virus with avg. its from that dna thing on bittorent. it doesnt seem to be a problem because norton and avast dont pick it up. i dont think it will effect your computor. its not effecting me and im runnin vista!

  2. Do you have Bit torrent on your PC? A recent reports suggests that the BitTorrent DNA, which is bundled with the mainline client, is an exploitable version of uTorrent without the user interface. It is suggested that it is possible for any websites to offload content to the btdna.exe, without the users consent. There are lots of reports that suggest this is where this virus is being downloaded from.

Anyway, removal - empty the Temp folders, all of them for each user account. Clear the Temp internet , cookies, cache etc by opening Internet Explorer (or Inet Options in Control Panel) and tools, then select delete All (IE7) or delete from all the folder locations in IE6 including any offline content. Make sure AVG definitions are up to date, reboot into safe mode and run the AV Scan. See if it will delete the files (if it finds any) and then switch off System restore before you reboot (note - only if your PC is behaving, any Blue screens etc may mean you should try and keep the restore points.) If all else fails after a reboot go to http://www.spynomore.com/ and download the trial version, it will show you where the virus files are allow you to manually delete them, if you want it to automatically do it then you have to purchase the program. Many viruses will attempt to disable the better known AV programs (including AVG) and often succeed.
