What is tv tuner card

I just wanted to watch tv on my pc since I don't have cable or dish.Do I need to install any tv tuner card to pc.How that tv card work does it I receive regular cable channels or some other pc channels.Please explain.

  1. Tv tuner card just allows your computer to act as a tv/DVR setup. you would need to pay for cable if you want cable channels, off the air channels will work for free just as with a regular tv
