Are there any acids in coffee, or any other ingredient besides caffeine that may or may not be harmful? I understand that its probably not the healthiest thing in the world to drink a whole pot a day, but Im asking as someone who has a maximum of one cup in the morning. Thanks in advance!

  1. According to my source, the caffeine in coffee can cause insomnia, irregular heartbeat, muscle spasms, and the inability to concentrate. Drinking two cups of coffee a day doubles the risk of miscarriage in pregnant women, but that again is due to the caffeine.

However, coffee has a lot of pros. Drinking 5 or more cups a day is said to prevent Alzheimer’s disease, 3 or more can aid memory in older women, and combined with exercise it is supposed to reduce skin cancer.

All in all though, it's hard to say if any of the claims really are true. I heard that coffee prevents male pattern baldness.

  2. theres nothing wrong with one cup of coffee in the morning. i think only people who drink 4 or 5 cups a day should be cautious. but even drinking one cup a day will stain your teeth, but aside from that i dont think there are any risks that include people who drink only one cup.

  3. Absolutely nothing (unless it's that swill from $tarbucks). Coffee is the source of all that was, is, or ever shall be.

  4. Caffeine is known to create more palpations in the heart. Me personally do not believe coffee is unhealthy, it has its ups and down sides. If you are a healthy person, drinking coffee can be good for you, as if you are not a healthy person and have problems with the heart then it is not good for you. I have met with some doctors about this and some say that it is bad for you, others say that it is good for you if you are healthy. Do not let the media or t.v tell you that its really bad for you when it is not. I thought it was too but only in some cicumstances.

  5. Not at thing. ..Harvard Medical School researched this......read on!

Despite 20 years of reassuring research, many people still avoid caffeinated coffee because they worry about its health effects. However, current research reveals that in moderation—a few cups a day—coffee is a safe beverage that may even offer some health benefits.

The latest research has not only confirmed that moderate coffee consumption doesn't cause harm, it's also uncovered possible benefits. Studies show that the risk for type 2 diabetes is lower among regular coffee drinkers than among those who don't drink it. Also, coffee may reduce the risk of developing gallstones, discourage the development of colon cancer, improve cognitive function, reduce the risk of liver damage in people at high risk for liver disease, and reduce the risk of Parkinson's disease. Coffee has also been shown to improve endurance performance in long-duration physical activities.

For those who drink coffee to stay alert, new research suggests that you'll stay more alert, particularly if you are fighting sleep deprivation, if you spread your coffee consumption over the course of the day. For instance, if you usually drink 16 ounces in the morning, try consuming a 2-3 ounce serving every hour or so. Again, MODERATION is the key.

  6. Well it can slowly stain your teeth, and if you like it sweet or creamy then there's the calories and fat to worry about (if you drink alot)! But nothing really unhealthy as far as i'm aware.
