  2. I'm sure there are plenty of websites out there.  My information comes from my being a French teacher.

Provence is located in southeast France bordered by the Rhone, the Alps and the Mediteranean.  It's climate is very very mild, and you can see all types of exotic plants growing there that wouldn't grow in other regions of the country.  One of the best aspects concerning plant growth is that flowers bloom there during every season.  It is also the location of the Riviera which is noted for extremely blue waters and sky.  Provence also has some very well preserved Roman monuments and many of it's people still speak Provencal which was the language of ancient troubadors.

    Hope this helps.

  3. It was a powerful duchy with its own language and laws before becoming a province.

There is a north wind called Mistral which comes down the valley of the Rhone and is reputed to drive people mad.

The city of Avignon was the papal city during a century.

It grows lots of different wines

It is a beautiful place. I should know, I was born there (all right, I'm prejudiced, so sue me.)

Here is a site about it
