  1. Well, it is totally up to you.  I went to uni in 2006 and quit after a term, this is because everyone went clubbing and I got very lonely, as I don't drink!  I also was very very far from home and I got very homesick.  However, I don't want this to put you off.  Once I came home I sorted myself out and I've applied to uni again, got in and now I am going to uni closer to home and I am more excited than ever to get going!

The thing is to pick your course and uni carefully, get loads of prospectuses (off their websites) and go to all the open days you can to judge the uni.

If you are very unsure, just take a gap year, work or travel, and then you can either have a deferred entry which you can always turn down if you change your mind.  Or you can apply during your gap year when you have decided what to do.

Don't rush into things think about what you want to do.  I have found through my experiences that it doesn't matter what you are doing, as long as your happy!!

I've taken two gap years now and it doesn't matter, so I am starting uni at age 20 and I am very much looking forward to it!

Hope that helps you, good luck.

  2. It depends on what job you want to do e.g. I'm an accountant and went to university but had I gone straight to the workplacee I could have qualified sooner and without having a student loan to repay!

However you will have a brilliant time and it will teach youIndependencee quicker that continuing to live at home.

  3. You should go if you want to get a job using a degree - if not then don't bother.  It's not fun for everyone and it is generally hard work.

  4. Its good fun so much so i'm really looking forward to going back for second year and you should totally go for the expirence and also you might learn something

  5. I'm at Leeds and I love it... its the best time I've had in my life to date and I do not regret it. You'll meet new friends SO easily, so thats nothing to worry about. You'll be going out and having fun and have a degree of independence that was never before accessible to you.

I suppose its not for everyone. If you feel like you'd be better off going for an apprenticeship or going straight into work rather than spending another 3-4 years (or more depending on your course) of hard solid academic work then don't go. Of course, you can always take a gap year while you decide, so don't rush these decisions. If you drop out in your first year, you'll still be faced with 3,000 pounds worth of debt.

I'd say if you're academically skilled then go for it. You'll have fun and get a decent qualification whilst doing it. Otherwise consider other options before committing to it. You're school should have a careers advisor, go and speak to them about it and discuss whether it really would be for you.

Good luck in whatever decision you make.
