Just recieved a notice to vacate my home, where I have been paying rent for 1year and 6 months. The owners lost the house to foreclosure.

I found out when the bank rep. came to my front door to give me notice!

  1. Its an eviction notice. Its too bad that they didn't just ask you to move.  An unlawful detainer will usually show up on a credit check that future landlords will do.  And since most of these actions are based on non payment of rent, you will have a lot of explainig to do to your next landlord

  2. It's an eviction action.  If you want to stay, call the lawyer who is handling the matter and see if there's room to negotiate.

  3. You are being evicted for unlawfully living in the property.

You need to move out before it expires, you do not want an eviction on your credit report.    It will not appear there unless you go to hearing (you will lose) or you refuse to move out and the sheriff has to forcibly remove you.

The bank should have mailed you something about this a couple of months ago.

  4. The legal term for "eviction".   The sheriff will be there on the final date to escort you out.  Be packed.  You didn't do anything wrong and the landlord owes you the deposit. /
