I love Indian food as well. Their hot spicy food makes my mouth water sometimes, but why the craze? Have you people tried Chinese food? Italian? American?

  1. I think it is to do with Lager drinking which is also very popular in uk, the more lager drunk the more the brain starts saying , "curry required", cannabis use too has the same effect

  2. I love Indian food too. Italian one is great also. Chinese and American (hamburger?) are ok/

  3. I have tries all of the ones you have stated and i like them all, if i`m in the mood for an indian i have 1

  4. im australian and i love other food like chinese and stuff. but my favourite food in the whole entireworld is thai food :D and i love it soo muchh omg i cravee it now

  5. What craze? Indian food has been enjoyed by Brits for 100 years, so you cant really call it a craze, UK style Chinese not nice, but go to a good restaurant and ask for a real meal then you are talking, Italian food, nice at times, American most of it close to English, not talking about the fast food, nice for a change. you want tasy food try mexican, spanish, south american.

I think i missed something what food do yobs eat?

  6. Britain is lucky to have such a wide choice of ethnic cuisine

    available to them.

I had a very nice takeaway last night.

Been eating curries for years so its not a new craze.

What is American food    McDonald's ,KFC??????? don't call that decent food.

I make a very good curry from scratch but could not be bothered last night as I was late finishing work.

Also cook a decent Chinese, Italian & Moroccan.

If a curry is a bit hot drink a glass of cold milk as cold water/beer makes the food taste hotter.

  7. I've been eating Indian food in Britain for 36 years, bloody long craze if you ask me!

  8. There are a lot of Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi immigrants in the UK so of course their cuisine seems more prominent than others. But they do eat other cuisines over there as well.

I too live in Australia and you may well say the same about Thai food here. Just thinking about a good laksa or Tom Yum/Kha Goong sends my taste buds into a frenzy and it fits our warm climate and our life style perfectly with its light fresh ingredients. But 10-15years ago it would be said that Chinese was the go and before that Italian. Turkish kebab stalls/takeaways also feature heavily here.

If people are buying and therefore eating it then, they must like it and there is a market for it.

  9. I'm not crazy about Indian food, in fact I've always disliked it until recently and I also love Chinese, Thai and Italian.

  10. I love Indian food, because you find vegetarian and vegan options and it is not as bland and boring as British food is.

What is American food? Hamburgers, steaks and hot dogs? No thank you. I cook Italian at home (meat free) and Chinese food doesn't offer a big variety for vegans.

  11. Well seeing as we started the curry craze, in India, look up your history folks, why shouldn't we like it.

  12. Are you refering to British Hindus or British Pakis? As for British Whites the craze is due to the colonial hangover from the 100 years they lorded over Indians... birdie num num!!

  13. Yes we've tried all those. I like southern American food such as KFC lol. I like American food, but most USA food seems to be too many calories and not enough nutrition for every day. Of course we have Chinese and it's as popular as Indian, as a lot of people from Hong Kong came here to open restaurants. Lots of people like Italian too. I'm not that keen on pasta and Pizza always feels as if it's too fattening to me. French food is lovely. Just because we like Indian doesn't mean we don't have other things. We can buy anything here.

  14. It's not a craze, there is every type of cuisine in england.  Considering chicken tikka masala was invented in Birmingham, there is good reason why indian is the most popular take away.  I struggle to understand what you class as "american" food - burgers and fries is not really an adequate substitute for a curry.

  15. I'm not a big fan of American food mainly because burgers and meatloaf and southern fried chicken and so on don't really do it for me.

However I don't just eat out at Indian places.I eat Chinese and Vietnamese and Thai and Italian and Spanish and Greek and Caribbean etc.

  16. We have all of those restaurants too but I guess we just love Indian food.  It has probably got something to do with cultural ties as England ruled India for a very long time and a large number of Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi people have chosen to make Britain their home.  The same could be said for Chinese food as there is not a town or area that does not have a  Chinese restaurant or a Chinese Chip shop (selling fish and chips alongside basic Chinese food) as Britain ruled Hong Kong for a very long time and many Hong Kong Chinese chose to make Britain their home.

  17. God knows. It is yob food, eaten by yobs who hate Indians.

  18. You are probably talking about food cooked by Indian chefs for the British taste (Yuck).

I love real Indian food as cooked in India for the local people. Not a great deal in common with what you buy in most UK Indian restaurants

Same goes with Thai, Chinese, Japenese, French, Spanish, Italian etc - you very rarely get the 'real' food in the UK

  19. Chinese - bland and samey.

    Italian - bland and samey.

    American - heart attack junk.

    Indian - interesting and varied.

The "craze" as you call it is pretty easy to understand really.

  20. I don't eat Indian food because a) i don't like it, b) i am allergic to it, c) well won't say what i think it looks like,   but i do eat Italian, Greek, Spanish, French food and this so called preoccupation with Indian food is something i can never understand. Besides which as someone once pointed out its not so much Indian food as from Bangladesh. As many of the dishes one gets originated from there.
