I had an eye test today which says that technically I am blind. My prescription came out that I am +3.50 in my right eye and +4.00 in my left eye, which i a lazy eye form a childhood squint. I also am told that I have astigmatism in both my eyes. Anyway I can see perfectly fine and haven't worn glasses since I was about 6. I don;t get headaches and the onlyreason I had an eye test was becuase when I read for ong periods of time my eyes get tired and blurry and i have to close them or look away from the writing to make them clear again. Anyway I had an eye test the year before, because i was learnig to drive and wanted to make sure my eyesight was okay. and my prescription then was -0.25 in my right eye and -0.50 in my left eye. I can also see detail far away clearly. I am stumped as to why suddenly I need glasses.

  1. its just your eyes changing. it happens all most every teen and it happens most in girls. i think its a hormone thing

  2. That is a little weird but then again its amazing how fast someone's eyesight can go downhill. If you feel that the eye doctor isn't correct regarding your diagnosis then you could always get a second opinion.

  3. that happend to me go back to the eye doctor in about 2 years and it will be like before its because uve been seeing things up close longer than u have far away its a normal thing dont be freaked

  4. Well it depends upon how old you are?? Once you get to a certain age usually in the 40s your eyes lose the ability to focus at different distances. This is called presbyopia, it means that you will have different prescriptions for near vision and distance vision. Now the plus prescription that you have listed is more than likely your reading prescription this is normally a higher value unless you are quite short sighted. It does not mean that you are technically blind, it is a common reading prescription. Now your distance vision from your previous sight test was  very minimal so it would be interesting to see what it is now. You may have gone from being short sighted to longsighted in your distance vision, again this is common in people once they reach a certain age. hope this can be some benefit to you.

  5. If you're having a growth spurt, this could cause your eyes to change pretty dramatically. As you get older, your eyesight changes.
