He is a Grand Slam winner and has made it to the semi-finals of the other 3 majors. If and when he does make it to #2, he will have earned it. Am I missing something ?

  1. But Nadal has won the French Open 3 time in a row

  2. because #2 is solid as a rock too

  3. In my opinion he's not a #2 mainly because he lacks consistency yet.  The current #2 has made it to 5 grand slam finals with 3 titles, I'm not even going to mention #1.  If you also take into consideration that Djokovic has a losing record against those ahead of him, he's pretty much where he deserves to be at this point.

  4. Djok will deserve to be 2 IF he BECOMES 2. Until then, the points show exactly who "deserves" to be 1,2,3,4. Im a DIE HARD Federer fan, probably the biggest... The Biggest. But if and when he relinquishes his #1 rank to Whoever, it will be well deserved.

Relax, Djok won the AO, he's in the club too. But lets not forget how much Rafa has dominated for the last 4 years, not just on clay. I dont think that Djok feels like he deserves more. Maybe his mother thinks so though. BE QUIET!

  5. agh because they are alll haters...

  6. At this point, I think that there are FOUR people who could be at number 1 and deserve it.  First, and most obvious, Federer, then second and just as obvious, Nadal, I do believe that Djokovich has the talent and deserves number 1 as well, but can anyone guess the fourth?  No? Well then, I will tell you: Jo-Wilfried Tsonga...if you saw him play Nadal at the Aussie Open, you would agree with me completely...may have been the best tennis match EVER played.

  7. I don't know, but I believe he is a VERY worthy #3 (and potential #2). He has a great all-round game and he's off to the best start of anyone this year. Not only was his win in Melbourne a great achievement, but anyone who has followed the game over the last year could see he had been steadily building to it. He reached the semis at the French and Wimbledon last year, the runner-up at the U.S Open. Winning the Aussie Open was the perfect punctuation point. He has earned his place in the rankings and should be a top-three mainstay for years to come.

  8. hehe, it's not that he doesn't deserve it, it's just that i don't like him!!!

besides poor rafa, he's been waiting long enough there to take the number one, number two belongs to rafa.-

  9. anna, it's not up to you to decide just because u don't like him. He deserved by all means to be nr.2, cause' he's got tremendous talent.

  10. rafa earned more than him, so rafa still deserves the no.2 spot!

  11. In Yahoo asnwers, there is a war. We have our opinions, but some people can be a little nasty. I do think he has a steadier game than Rafa on hard courts. He sometimes quit during a match, which I hate to see. If Djokovic can win Rafa in the semis in France, than I think he does deserve to be #2 in the world. He has beaten him, but never on clay. I don't want to be mean with Nadal fans, but I think Djokovic deserves to be #2 in the world. I don't like Djokovic for his personality, but as a player, he's really great. All players in the to 10 deserve to be there. Like I can I say, Djokovic deserves to be #2 in the world in my opinion, but so as Nadal deserves it too. I have to admit Nadal is great. He has won 3 titles, and trying to do his 4 there, which is quite an accomplishment. If Novak does get enough points to surpass him, why not?

  12. Well, if he earned it, he should be number 2 or 1 even.  It is all about the points.  The problem with him is that he is very arrogant.  There's an air about him that people don't like.  Frankly I don't either.  There's nothing humble about him for sure.  You can see that in the other Serbian "celebrities" too-Jankovic and Ivanovic.  Confidence is a huge part of their game to a point where they can get too arrogant.  I don't like Jankovic especially when she deals with the ball boys/girls.  She's rude when she doesn't get her tower right away or they're not moving fast enough at anything she asks.  Novak is not that mean to the ball persons, but the arrogance is still there.  If he loses, he talks all humble and stuff.  But if he win, you tell that he thinks he's all that and that he's going to be number one.  Roger and Rafael are one and two, but they are humble and don't act like they're tennis gods or something....not the way these Serbs act.

  13. He deserves to be where he is now, on the threshold of becoming the #2 ranked player. Only the die-hard Nadal and Federer fans say that he doesn't.  I'm a fan of Nole, but even if I weren't I would not be able to deny the fact that he is right up there near the top, and if he secures enough points to surpass Nadal at #2, then more power to him.  He stands at #1 in the race points, which covers the calendar year to date, as well as the money list so far.

  14. He definitely deserves it, but he does have some attitude problems he should fix.

  15. I think he's great. But some people don't like his antics and his imitations of other players. Blah blah. All that aside, Novak has been the dominant player this year.
