Do you not gain a lot of weight when you are pregnant when you are a teenager?? I was just wondering because there are 3 people at my school who were or are pregnant and the 2 that already had their baby look great and you would not be able to tell they just had a baby looking at them. Also look at Jamie Lynn Spears after she had her baby in an magazine article she said that she didn't have a problem with weight and that she could already fit back into her jeans.

Also what is up with teenagers who are pregnant showing it off. Any question you as the 3 kids at my school they answer with something about being pregnant or about their baby. They bring in their sonograms to show everyone. I mean its not really something to be proud of!!

  1. I AGREE!  It's NOT something to be proud of...to me it's baby's having babies...these young folks seem to forget about the LIFETIME commitment they just made...how hard ALL of life will now be...getting an education, a job, a place to live...missing out on being a "kid"..to hang with friends, etc...all of that goes AWAY...

I think the new show "Baby Borrowers" is a FANTASTIC thing, and every teen (boys and girls) should have to have some sort of baby "intervention"..like the show...

And by the way, hon, NOT EVERYBODY gets their "body back" after giving birth...some never loose the baby weight...a young person's body os REALLY NOT suited to having children...your own body has not finished maturing.

Good for you, dear, that you see right through this horrible "trend" and I hope and pray YOU wait until you are GROWN-UP before having a family...

  2. I will tell you first hand why teens get pregnant more often now and don't seem to care. They have parents willing to take care of the baby financially and emotionally. the government pays for all doctor visits and they get wic and daycare help you name it. its like saying hey your 15 and pregnant but its okay we will take care of that baby for you and have another one while your at it. i see this all the time. and another thing not all girls "bounce back" my sister in-law has dark purple stretch marks over her whole stomach from her 1st son at 15yrs old so these little girls need to realize that pregnancy isn't a game and their babies aren't everybody else's responsibility. until then the rate of teen pregnancies will rise.

  3. baby's are blessings and in no way should someone be ashamed of being pregnant

  4. Teenage girls tend to have more muscle tone which in turn causes less stress marks and makes the resiliency of the skin much better. So when they actually have a baby they are less likely to show any result of it besides the baby itself. The more toned you are, the less you will look like you were pregnant. I am not a teenager but I am 5'5 and weigh 120lbs. I worked out alot. I am now in my eleventh week of pregnancy and have only gained two pounds. I believe it also has to do with a person's metabolism. The faster your metabo is, the less unncecessary weight you will gain.

As for teen pregnancy, it is a SAD and HORRIBLE thing. I remember the same thing in high school and seeing girls pregnant. Luckily my mother raised me better. No offense but its the truth. Young girls need to realize the timeline of things. They should not have babies when they themselves are still babies. =/

  5. teenages still have a good fast metabolism which is why they loose weight fast.

as for showing off, they are proud that they have a baby, and if they are being responsible and stepping up and being a mature adult such as going to school and working then i would say ya it it something to be proud of, but if they arent doing sh*t then the probably just want attention, which is why they got pregnant in the first place.

  6. I'm sure the girls at your school are not proud of being pregnant or proud of the situation but its a part of there lives now and they have learned to except it and i'm sure they are excited about being a mother and having their first child.

weight can be depending on the person and how well you eat and take care of yourself while your pregnant

  7. I personally think its ridiculous. No one needs to be getting pregnant at that age. Then to sit there and say look at me look at me I'm pregnant. That's dumb. There going to be missing a month of school probably when they have the baby plus think of how many sick days they might have and all this other stuff. Teenagers are not ready to have children. I think girls think its cool to be pregnant and one of the reasons I think is because of all these celebs flaunting their baby bumps.

  8. Being young and pregnant is actually an advantage in that aspect. Our bodies are more capable of handling it, and its easier to bounce back, because most of us are already in good shape. I'm sure Jamie Lynn Spears has personal trainers though to make her little again :-P

When you are pregnant, no matter what age you are, that baby becomes the focus of your life, and ultrasounds are exciting! Friends like to see them, just because you are a pregnant teenager doesn't mean you can't enjoy the same things other pregnant mother's get to experience. Cut them a little slack please, I'm 18 and pregnant, and I do the best I can. I legally had s*x, and legally got pregnant, and I will be the best mother I can be, which is going to be better than some mom's who are in their 30's that I know.

  9. I cant believe how many teenagers are getting pregnant now-adays. I don't think teens understand the responsibility and risk they put on themselves and the baby. The stress of pregnancy is physical as well as emotional. Pregnant teenagers have higher rates of maternal mortality, toxemia, and anemia. They also have more complications at birth. If a teenager keeps her baby, as the majority of teens do, she may find herself with few support services. Lack of childcare often forces teenagers with children to drop out of school, making it harder for them to get decent jobs to support themselves and their families. The health of their babies also suffers. Infants born to teenagers have a higher rate of infant mortality, are more likely to be premature, and have a higher rate of birth injury, low birth weight, and neurological defects

being a pregnant teen is not something to be proud of. seriously what would you do if you had a teen and they were pregnant? its just crazy. but its not something that can be stopped.

all i can say is that i am 24 with a 9 month old son. dont mean to brag,  but no one believes that i was ever pregnant. i have no stretch marks, no excess weight. about a month after having my son, i was back to my original weight before i got pregnant. i even got my abs back lol. its just i have a very high metabolism... so it wasnt an issue for me to back to the weight i started at when i first got pregnant. some women are just lucky, and im lucky to be one of them.

  10. Well everyone has their own opinion. You might not think it is something to be proud of, but being pregnant is an amazing thing. It is incredible. And yes, teenagers shouldnt be getting pregnant, but if they do... what would you rather them do about it?! Get an abortion?! Or live with the choices they made and try to make the best of it?

And yes... teenagers tend to lose the baby weight quicker because they have faster metabolisms than older women.
