You know... sometimes people are into very strange things. There's not an explanation for every single fetish out there, but I'll try to give you a serious answer for this. I'm not sure if you know this, but "tentacle p**n" has been illustrated in various Japanese art pieces since the 1820s. So it's been in Japanese culture for a long time and I guess has been a popular theme since then.
